Teachers are invited to learn more about resources available through OPA's Nebraska High School Theatre Awards program.

Overview: The Nebraska High School Theatre Awards is designed to support and celebrate theatre education in Nebraska. Since Omaha Performing Arts launched the program in 2013, its grown into a statewide network that provides a variety of learning opportunities to choose from each year, including:

  • Master classes and in-school workshops with Broadway teaching artists
  • Free tickets to Broadway touring shows when available
  • Audition and college prep resources
  • Backstage learning experiences
  • Adjudication of musicals, plays and one-acts by performing arts professionals
  • Digital learning activities
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Performance opportunities at the annual showcase at the Orpheum Theater (free housing and meals provided)
  • Opportunity to participate in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in NYC (all expenses paid)

All learning experiences offered through the program are optional and included as a part of registration – the goal is to give teachers and students plenty of options to choose from.

How to Participate: Any Nebraska middle school or high school can participate, but online registration is required. Space is limited and registrations will be confirmed on a first-come, first served basis. To register visit NebraskaHSTA.org.

Cost: Schools are asked to pay a $100 registration fee, which covers their schools participation in all aspects of the program. Schools demonstrating financial need may be eligible for discounted or free registration, reimbursement for the cost of busing, and other benefits.
